Ganz Hall – Chicago, IL
“Simic Songs” for soprano and guitar by Timothy Ernest Johnson
Katherine Bruton, soprano, and Timothy Ernest Johnson, guitar
In a reprisal of their recent performance with the Chicago Composers’ Consortium (which was the Chicago premiere of these pieces!), Katherine and Timothy will once again perform Timothy’s “Simic Songs” for the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA)’s Faculty Composer Recital. These pieces are settings of poems by the Pulitzer Prize-winning Serbian-American poet, Charles Simic (1938 – present). In a fairly rare combination of soprano combined with classical guitar, these pieces are both a percussive and lyrical journey through Simic’s poetry.
This performance is free and seating is first come, first serve.
You will need a photo ID to get through security at Roosevelt University. Once you arrive, go to the 7th floor of the Auditorium Building and follow the signs for Ganz Hall.
